Frequently asked questions
Reaching out for the first time takes courage. Here's everything people usually want to know before they call, honest, plain-language answers, no pressure attached.
Getting started
Do I need a referral to start treatment?
No. You can reach out to us directly, no doctor's referral, court order, or outside paperwork is required to begin. Call (541) 234-3081 or email us, and we'll take it from there.
How quickly can I start?
We typically respond within one business day of your call or email. From there, we'll schedule your first appointment as soon as our calendar allows. If timing is urgent for you, a court deadline, a window of motivation, a family situation, tell us when you reach out and we'll do our best to work with it.
What happens when I call?
A real conversation, not an interrogation. We'll ask a few questions about what's going on and what you're looking for, answer your questions about programs and coverage, and help you schedule a first appointment if you're ready. There's no obligation, calling to ask questions is completely fine.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Your treatment records are protected by both federal and state privacy law. We don't share that you're in treatment, or anything you tell us, without your written permission, outside of the narrow exceptions the law requires. If you have questions about how confidentiality works in your specific situation, ask us directly and we'll walk you through it.
Can a family member call on my behalf?
Absolutely. Many first calls come from a spouse, parent, or friend. We can explain how our programs work, what coverage looks like, and how to encourage someone toward treatment, though the person seeking care will need to be part of enrolling. Learn more on our page for families.
Treatment & services
What is outpatient treatment?
Outpatient treatment means you get structured, state-certified drug and alcohol care while continuing to live at home, keep your job, and stay connected to your family. You attend scheduled counseling sessions and groups at our Redmond office (or by telehealth) rather than staying overnight at a facility.
Do you offer PHP or IOP?
Not at this time. Rock Recovery provides outpatient treatment, counseling, and peer support in Redmond. If your assessment shows you need a higher level of care, we'll tell you that plainly and help you find it, BestCare Treatment in Redmond and Rimrock Trails offer more intensive programs. Getting you to the right level of care matters more to us than keeping you here.
Can I do sessions by telehealth?
Yes, telehealth is available. If you live farther out in Central Oregon, Prineville, Madras, Sisters, or transportation is a barrier, ask about virtual sessions when you call. We'll let you know which of your services can be done remotely.
What is Redeemed Recovery? Do I have to be religious?
Redeemed Recovery is our optional faith-based track, pairing Christian discipleship with the same evidence-based clinical care we provide everywhere else. It's there for people who want their faith woven into recovery, and entirely optional for those who don't. You'll never be required to participate in anything religious to receive treatment here.
What's the difference between peer support and counseling?
Counseling is clinical care delivered by licensed professionals, therapy, assessment, treatment planning. Peer support comes from certified mentors with lived experience of recovery; they walk alongside you between sessions, sharing what actually worked for them. Most people benefit from both, and our founders, Shawn and Eugene Reece, are in recovery themselves, so lived experience runs through everything we do.
DUII services
When are DUII classes held?
Our DUII education classes run on weekday evenings, so you can meet your requirements without missing work. Call us for the current schedule and to find out which evening works for your situation.
What do your DUII services include?
We provide the full sequence: DUII evaluation, DUII education classes, and DUII treatment when the evaluation calls for it. That means you can complete your requirements in one place, with one team, instead of piecing services together across providers.
Will you handle my court or diversion paperwork?
We understand that documentation matters when a court date is involved, and we work with clients completing court-ordered requirements regularly. Bring your paperwork to your first appointment, or call ahead with questions about your specific requirements, and we'll tell you exactly how we'll document your progress.
Insurance & cost
Does OHP cover treatment?
Yes. The Oregon Health Plan covers most outpatient addiction services at no cost to you. If you're enrolled in OHP, cost should not be the thing standing between you and treatment, call us and we'll confirm what your plan covers.
Which insurance plans do you accept for counseling?
For licensed mental health counseling we accept Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, First Choice Health, Medicaid, Medicare, Moda, Oregon Health Plan (OHP), PacificSource, and Regence. If your plan isn't listed, contact us, coverage details change, and we're glad to check.
What does it cost without insurance?
Self-pay counseling sessions are $225, and a sliding scale is available based on your circumstances. Don't rule yourself out over the sticker price, tell us where you're at financially and we'll find a way to make care workable.
How do I verify my benefits?
The simplest way is to call us at (541) 234-3081 with your insurance card handy, we'll help you sort out what your plan covers before your first visit. You can also review our insurance and billing page for a full overview of accepted plans and fees.
What payment methods do you take?
We keep payment straightforward for self-pay and sliding-scale clients. Contact us before your first appointment and we'll confirm which payment methods we currently accept and answer any billing questions.
